Is your business embracing New Zealand’s love affair with Facebook?

Most people would be happy to admit that the social media platform Facebook, whether you like, love or hate it, has become more popular over recent years.
But did you know just how popular it is now in New Zealand?

It’s official

Reports from Nielsen show that every month, 2.8m New Zealanders visit social media, with over half the population accessing the internet via their mobile phone.

Facebook is the most popular of all the social media platforms and NZ’s second most popular online destination, after Google search.
It’s also the place where many Kiwis spend much of their online time (an average of 10hrs 43mins per month is spent on Facebook).

And, thankfully, many businesses are now realising the best place to talk to their audience is online. Reports show digital is now the new leader in NZ advertising spend (a multi-billion $ industry) with social media showing huge growth in this sector.

There are more Kiwi Facebook users in the 45-54 age range than users under 25 years old.

What should my business be doing?

Ask yourself these questions;

  1. Is your business on Facebook already?
    (if so, do you know how you’re doing on there?)
  2. Do you know when people are talking about your business on social media?
    (if so, what do you do about it, and does it help?)
  3. Do you know what your competitors are doing on Facebook?
  4. Do you understand how to use Facebook effectively for a business?
  5. Do you know the type of posts that work best for your brand/ in your industry?
